5 Ways to Get More People to “Like” Your Business on Facebook
Okay so you have set up a Facebook page for your business and now are wondering what to do with it. You have been hearing about how social media is the new thing but this is not one of those Field of Dreams kind of moments where “if you built it, they will come.” Yes, with a little time and effort, you will be sure to have people trickling in. So let’s explore some things that you can do to help build up that Facebook page of yours.
1) Quality Content
How many times have you heard that? Everybody is always saying how content is king and how it is the biggest factor to driving interactions and traffic, and although it is overused, it is 100% correct. So brainstorm what type of content your targeted audience would be interested in. Actually, first take a step back and figure out exactly who your audience is. Once you have pinpointed that, you can expand and figure out what your audience is interested in.
Now this is the tricky part. You want to keep your audience engaged and interested yet you also want to keep things relevant to what you as a business do. I suggest you mix it up and do a little of both. Share things that are relevant to your company and what it stands for yet are also interesting for your regular customers and clients. Pictures and videos work wonders. While doing this, also mix in strictly company (product/service) related items as well as random sprinkles that are completely off-base, such as fun and light content. With a good mix, you will be sure to see engagements rise.
2) Contests and Campaigns
These are extremely fun but do require some strategic planning. Some campaigns may take weeks or months to formulate to perfection but will pay off in the long run. First of all, if you are going to run a contest or promotion, make sure you follow the Facebook Guidelines. Okay so now I am not going to tell you what kind of contests or campaigns to run but do suggest that you create ones that allow for sharing…lots and lots of sharing. The main point of this will be to gain some traction and bring attention to your Facebook page so create contests and campaigns that allow users to share with their friends. Another great type of contest is one that requires user votes. In order to vote, one has to like your page and the users that are entered in the contest will hopefully promote the crap out of it in order to make sure they win. Of course, this is all assuming that the prize is well worth the effort. The biggest side effect is that some of these new likes may not be the right audience for your brand, but sometimes it is a risk you may have to take.
3) Use All Other Avenues to Drive Traffic to Facebook
To make this sweet and simple, take advantage of other platforms to push people over to your Facebook page. This includes avenues such as other social networks (Twitter, Youtube, etc.) and email. When you have unique content that is only on your Facebook page, promote to the audience on your other social networks. As for email, it is pretty simple. Make sure you promote your Facebook page in your email signature…a very easy way to spread the word.
Finally, pimp out your website…Facebook style! Integrate Facebook social plugins wherever you feel fit. This includes using the like button, comment feature, like box, etc. These are all great additions to your site and blog and help promote your brand on Facebook.
4) Ask and You Shall Receive
According to research, it is believed that people actually share more often when asked to do so. So when posting interesting content, blog posts or throwing a fun contest, ask your fans to share. Who knows, they may actually listen and help you spread the word. This also works when asking your fans to like something (ex: Like this comment if you…so and so).
5) Facebook Ads
You can set up a weekly budget and promote your Facebook page with ads. The best part of this is that you can target your ads to the specific audience that you are looking to attract. If done correctly you could bring in a great amount of likes and even when limiting your spending amount, you could still help increase your page likes.
So there you have it. Five simple ways to help boost you Facebook likes. Try them all out and see what works best for you and your brand.
